Inevitably, they succumb to their attraction and spend a transformative night together, but it only fuels Yvetta's self doubt, and she almost loses Ray as a result. It takes forgiveness, and an understanding heart (and steaming hot sex) to bring the two of them back together.

  A Sneak Peek...

Silence stretched between them as they gazed into each other’s eyes, then she abruptly stood, knocking back her chair and breaking the tension. “I could use a cup of tea. Shall I make a pot?”

Ray smiled. “Sure. That’d be great. And there’s still apple crumble, right?”

“I thought you were full to bursting,” Yvetta said in a teasing tone.

“There’s always room for dessert,” he said.

She laughed as she bustled about, filling the kettle and putting it on the stove. She brought the apple crumble to the table and went back to the cupboard for a couple of little dessert bowls. The fridge’s freezer held a small container of Ben and Jerry’s Vanilla Caramel Fudge, which she also brought to the table. By then the kettle was boiling. She dropped two teabags into the pot, and poured the boiling water over. That done, she carried the pot to the table and, still standing, attempted to pour them tea.

But Ray noticed that her hands shook. She was nervous, he noted. How cute. A few splashes of tea missed the tea cup and splattered on the table.

Yvetta gasped and set the pot down, grabbing a napkin to mop up the spillage. “I’m so sorry. How clumsy of me...”

Ray reached over and stilled her hand. “It’s fine, Yvetta. It’s just a little spill...”

She froze at his touch and her eyes flew up to meet his.

Ray sensed a shift in the atmosphere then...a rise in the heat in the room, an awareness of Yvetta’s need. Sparks jumped between them, and in the next moment, he pulled her into his lap, wrapped his arms around her, and pressed his lips to hers.

Her arms went around his neck and he felt, more than heard, her moan of acceptance and of mutual want. Her lips parted, and his tongue gained entry. Heaven.
